Christmas Morning
on Dec25 2008It’s Christmas morning and all the usual affairs are well under way. Phone calls to family have been made and soon we head to our oldest son’s for Christmas dinner and gift giving. Much has changed in the last few months in the George house. With my recent diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, my wife has gone back to work (benefits you know) and I am learning the difference in every day whites and good whites.
The past few months have been both trying and revealing. Life is seldom according to plan; more often it writes the plans for us. But just beyond this reality we see is the more lasting reality. One of the names for God in the Old Testament is Jehovah Shemah, the God who is there. Why not here? Because here is transitory. Tomorrow we will not be here. We will be there and that is where God already is.
Hopefully my fiction reminds us in an unobtrusive way of that truth. Just beyond our natural senses is a reality where God always is. Have a blessed Christmas and New Year and I hope you visit back often.
